How we work with PPWR

PPWR introduces new requirements for packaging and documentation. At NSI Electronics, we have therefore translated the requirements into a practical process that helps us maintain a clear overview of roles, documentation and packaging data across our suppliers and products.

Our process consists of five steps:

  1. We identify suppliers and their roles.
  2. We tailor our supplier communication.
  3. We track documentation and responsibilities.
  4. We collect and structure packaging data.
  5. We continuously follow up on missing information and changes.

1. We start with the roles

The requirements depend, among other things, on the role each party has in the value chain. We therefore start by clarifying our own role and the supplier’s role for the relevant products.

We distinguish, for example, between products from brand suppliers and products that we import directly from manufacturers outside the EU.

This provides the basis for determining which documentation and information we need to obtain.

2. We tailor our supplier communication

Not all suppliers are required to provide the same information. We have therefore prepared different supplier communications in both Danish and English.

Depending on the supplier’s role, we follow up on areas such as:

  • EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
  • Technical documentation.
  • Documentation relating to relevant substances.
  • Packaging labelling and identification.
  • Packaging data.
  • Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

This means that our communication is based on each supplier’s specific role rather than using the same standard request for everyone.

3. We track documentation systematically

Once the supplier material has been sent, we link it to a checklist.

This allows us to keep track of:

  • Which documentation we have received.
  • Which information the supplier has confirmed.
  • What is still missing.
  • Whether Extended Producer Responsibility has been clarified.
  • Who is responsible internally.
  • Where follow-up is required.

This gives us a single overview of the status of each supplier.

4. We keep track of packaging data

Packaging data is a specific focus area in our PPWR work.

The direct supplier may not necessarily have all the required information about the packaging. The data may therefore need to be obtained further back in the value chain from manufacturers or sub-suppliers.

We record both the data we receive and the information that is still missing, allowing us to continuously monitor the status.

5. We treat PPWR as an ongoing process

For us, the work does not stop once a supplier has responded for the first time.

Documentation may be missing, products and packaging may change, and new suppliers may be added. We have therefore designed the process so that we can continuously track:

  • What we already have documentation for.
  • What is still missing.
  • What has changed.
  • Where further follow-up is required.

Making PPWR work in practice

For us, PPWR is not just about understanding the regulations. It is about turning them into a practical workflow that works in day-to-day operations and throughout the supply chain. This is the structure we use to work systematically with documentation, packaging data and supplier follow-up.
